Explore open AI roles for creatives

Taste isn't innate—it's earned through years of discerning the difference between good and great. The next generation of creative AI will only improve by learning from the practitioners who have spent their careers defining excellence.

Why Mercor

Define the creative standard for AI

Your expertise shapes how frontier AI systems distinguish polished work from mediocre work. You'll be helping establish the standards these models learn from.

Earn competitive rates

Creative professionals on Mercor earn $60–$120/hr, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise.

Work on your schedule

Fully remote with flexible hours. Most engagements run 15–20 hours per week.

Apply your expertise in full

The same expertise that helped you direct films, ship campaigns, or build visual systems is what makes you valuable now. This isn't work that just anyone could do—it requires genuine professional judgment.

The work

Each project is different but creative experts typically contribute in four ways:

Evaluate

Review AI outputs the way you would a colleague's work: identify strengths, surface subtle weaknesses, and articulate your reasoning in clear, actionable feedback.

Create

Define criteria to capture what you notice instinctively: an emotive scene, a beautiful sonnet, a performance that communicates the intended emotion.

Test

Stress-test new models against professional creative standards. Design prompts, edge cases, and evaluation tasks that reveal where systems still struggle.

Review

Spot the subtle failures models still make: brand copy that's technically correct but unmistakably generic. Evaluate outputs for originality, tone, audience fit, and creative quality.

Testimonials

I spent fifteen years doing lighting for film. This is the first AI project I've worked on that genuinely needed everything I learned in film. They wanted to know where the relighting model failed, why it failed, and how to characterize that failure. That is real work.

Senior Lighting TD, 16 years in film and VFX

Most evaluation work asks you to rate things on a scale. This work asked me to define the rubric—to articulate what I actually know about what makes a brand identity hold together. That is a different level of engagement.

Senior Art Director, 12 years in brand and identity

I reviewed AI-generated pitch decks for brand accuracy and creative quality. The feedback structure was rigorous. The pay was competitive. The work genuinely used my professional expertise, not just my time.
